New season theatre shows brings new genre
I guess it won't be long before the dark autumn nights arrive. Once we reach the middle of September, the days get shorter and there is nothing like a good old-fashioned ghost story to set the mood for the fast approaching winter months, writes Alison Norton.

Theatres obviously make the ideal setting for "things that go bump in the night." Last winter I was treated to a performance of The Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre in Covent Garden and I can tell you that is a pretty scary play!
Not sure it would have worked so well with the sun blazing outside, but on an evening between Christmas time and the New Year, it was just perfect.
With ghosts in mind, The Nonenties, who perform at The Rose Theatre in Kidderminster are presenting the first play of their new season from September 10-15, which is entitled Ghost Writer and is billed as a spooky whodunit with lots of laughs.
Publicity officer Kerena Taylor described it as "Hamlet meets Blithe Spirit meets Agatha Christie!"
The plot follows the trials and tribulations of depressed playwright Edward, who on the first anniversary of the death of his actress wife is residing in the attic of a gay actor pal and has not written a word since her passing.
Edward's friend's attempts at matchmaking are met with disgust by the vengeful ghost of the deceased wife and then the fun really begins.
