Comedy character Charlie Chuck will be delivering his surreal brand of stand-up to the Slade Rooms this evening Friday, December 16).

The funnyman, real-name David Kear, is best known as "Uncle Peter" in the Smell of Reeves and Mortimer.

The wild-haired Kear began his career as a drummer, performing with various bands in the 1970s and 1980s.

In the late 1980s, he turned to stand-up comedy as Charlie Chuck. After appearing on the Sky TV talent show Sky Star Search he was spotted by DJ James Whale, who booked him on several editions of his late night show.

In 1993-1995, Charlie Chuck was a cast member of the BBC Two TV series The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer. Although he performed in his Charlie Chuck character, he was referred to as Uncle Peter.

Sir Paul McCartney became a fan after seeing him on television and invited Chuck to perform at one of his birthday parties. Doors open at 7pm. Call 0870 320 7000.
