It's a greased lightning! One of the greatest musicals of all time has hit Birmingham's New Alexandra theatre – and it's done so with a bang.

This show has all the upbeat numbers, witty anecdotes and high fives you could want. And it's full to the brim with bright costumes, saucy dances and fun.

There are some really good individual performances – most notably by Ricky Rojas who plays Danny's right-hand man Kenickie. Not only is he at the centre of most of the comedy but he excels in his rendition of Greased Lightnin'.

Figure skating champion Robin Cousins makes an enthusiastic cameo as Teen Angel and credit goes to Carina Gillespie, as Sandy, and Kate Someset How, as Rizzo.

Parts of the show could have been more polished – Kenickie's car was visible before it was meant to appear. But this is just nit-picking.

The truth is when it comes to shows that have you hooked from the start, they don't come much better than this.
