Hollywood superstar Liam Neeson will appear at Birmingham's NIA in holographic form when he takes on the role of narrator in the spectacular new touring production of Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War of The Worlds next December.

The musical spectacular is a new interpretation of Jeff Wayne's 1978 concept album which tells the classic story of The War of the Worlds by HG Wells.

The arena show, which will feature CGI graphics, a live orchestra and performers will also include narration from superstar actor, Liam Neeson, who will also feature on the specially created 100-foot wide 'Animation Wall'.

As well as appearing on screen, Neeson will feature in the show as an 11-foot high holographic head and shoulders. Even more spectacularly, he will be recreated as a full body holographic which will interact with performers in the show.

This is the first time this has ever been seen within live entertainment in the world.

Jeff Wayne says: "After long consideration, I concluded that for future productions, some of HG Wells' storylines and characters should be re-explored. But once again, I have been fortunate, and have attracted Liam Neeson to these New Generation interpretations.

"He has, so-to-speak, been handed the 'baton' from Richard Burton, and I believe audiences and listeners alike will find Liam's interpretation no less compelling."
