Review: Jenny Eclair at Stourbridge Town Hall
Jenny Eclair may aim most of her comedy at herself, but it hit home with her mainly female and mainly middle-aged audience who roared with recognition as she shared her thoughts on the trials of getting old.

Jenny Eclair may aim most of her comedy at herself, but it hit home with her mainly female and mainly middle-aged audience who roared with recognition as she shared her thoughts on the trials of getting old.
The Grumpy Old Woman not so much embraces ageing – and in particular the menopause – as confronts it.
She tells her Stourbridge audience it happens virtually overnight.
"One minute you're snogging boys down a back alley and the next you are too scared to drive at night."
While some females of a certain age obsess about diets, exercise and cosmetic surgery, 51-year-old Eclair confronts the inevitable with such hilarious honesty.
The former I'm a Celebrity star covers such topics as failing memory, expanding waistline and a love of Per Una clothes.
"Per Una is the heroin of middle aged clothing," she says. "You start with a bit and then your wardrobe is bulging with the stuff and you end up looking like a tea cosy."
Eclair is lively and energetic and delivers her comedy in a natural chatty conversational tone that leaves females in the audience agreeing with her.
