Concert review: Alison Krauss at Birmingham Symphony Hall
Having won more Grammys than any other female singer in history (26 so far), it is no wonder that the Symphony Hall saw the sell-out signs in evidence with the appearance of Alison Krauss, the pop princess of country and bluegrass, on the first night of The Paper Airplane Tour.

Having won more Grammys than any other female singer in history (26 so far), it is no wonder that the Symphony Hall saw the sell-out signs in evidence with the appearance of Alison Krauss, the pop princess of country and bluegrass, on the first night of The Paper Airplane Tour.
Nor was it any wonder, with the awesome Union Station on stage, that the audience were treated to over two hours of the sweetest serenades, a sprinkling of boogie woogie piano and some of the most scintillating slide guitar this side of the Mississipi.
The performance of course featured Alison's wonderful breathy vocal and laid-back style and her excellent fiddle playing. And the band played their infectious brand of country, bluegrass and roots music with unfaltering energy and panache.
Unsurprisingly, the crowd loved every minute.
