Wilko Johnson, the phenomenal guitarist and founding member of Dr. Feelgood, who has influenced everyone from Joe Strummer and Mick Jones to Steve Albini, calls in to Wolverhampton on Thursday night for a gig at Bilston's Robin 2.

Blues singer Ian Siegal and his band will join Johnson on his current tour.

In addition to pioneering Dr. Feelgood's distinctive mid-seventies, pre-punk British R n B sound, in 1980 Johnson went on to play guitar for Ian Dury and the Blockheads.

Today, Johnson's solo band features Blockheads' Norman Watt-Roy on bass guitar and Dylan Howe on drums.

The Robin 2 concert falls in between TV appearances by Wilko on Later With Jools Holland on BBC 2 this week, on Tuesday and Friday.

Wilko, who also has his own autobiography coming out later this year, starred in the award-winning Dr Feelgood documentary Oil City Confidential, directed by Julien Temple. Next month he starts filming the second series of the fantasy TV series Game of Thrones, co-starring Sean Bean.

Tickets to Thursday's gig are £17.50 in advance or £20 on the door.
