One of Scotland's most prolific and talented songwriters, Jon Fratelli, performs tracks from his debut solo album in Wolverhampton tonight (September 24, 2011).

The singer, once frontman of band The Fratellis, will be on stage at the Slade Rooms.

Fratelli released his first solo album, Psycho Jukebox, in July. But it was with his other band members in The Frattlis that the 32-year-old made a name for himself.

The group's debut release Costello Music in 2006 debuted at number two in the UK Album Charts.

The album contained two top 10 singles Chelsea Dagger and Whistle for the Choir. It also contained two top 40 hits Henrietta and Baby Fratelli. The band even scooped a Brit Award for the record.

In early 2009 The Fratellis decided to take a break, claiming they had not split for good. But in February this year, John was quoted as saying: "Having made a record that's by far the best thing I've ever been involved in, if I was to go back to that band, there would be a whole year's worth of songs that I wouldn't be able to play.

"I find that almost impossible to even contemplate. I'm a great believer in that life has to keep on moving and that everything has its particular time.

"We were in that band for four or five years together and that seems like enough to me."

For the time being it looks as if John is going it alone.

Ticket are priced £10. Doors open at 7pm.For more details see www.wolvescivic.co.uk or call 0870 3207000.
