I know that amateur dramatics is thriving in the Shropshire area, but it has taken some time for groups from the county to contact me with details of their productions.
Slowly but surely however, information is starting to filter in and, hopefully before long, amateur performers from Shropshire will feel the benefit of publicising their shows via this column.
That said, Mad Cow Productions, who are based at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury, are never slow to shout out loud about their performances, the next of which can be seen on October 1. A "Moosical" Evening (clever title guys given the name of your group) is a selection of song and dance from musical theatre. For tickets, contact Theatre Severn on 01743 281281 or visit www.madcowproductions.co.uk for further information.
The Arcadians, who perform at The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham, are presenting the rock opera, Godspell by Steven Schwartz from October 4-8. Performances are nightly at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm on October 8 and tickets, priced at between £10-£15 are available from 0121 643 5858 or email tickets@arcadians.net to book online.
Sticking with the biblical theme, Tamworth Arts Club is presenting Jesus Christ Superstar at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms, from October 5-7. This ageless tale of probably the greatest story ever told set to rock music, was considered quite shocking when it was first released in the 1960s and this group have updated the production.

On September 29, you can catch a very unusual show at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Miraculous is the story of a young man called Shlomo whose mother goes in search of him following his late return one day.
The journey in fact changes her life forever. Miraculous is certainly something different. For tickets, contact the box office on 01902 429212.
Drama fans can look forward to a production of I'll Be Back Before Midnight by Peter Colley, presented by the Little Theatre in Donnington, Telford, from September 29-October 1.
This is a spine-chilling tale of suspense, but with a comedy element. However, all is not what it seems and when a series of mysterious events begin to take place, Jan becomes suspicious. For tickets, contact the Little Theatre Box Office on 01952 407959.
On a lighter note, you can catch a production of an old favourite, The King and I, a presented by Tudor Musical Comedy Society, at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall, from September 27-October 1. This wonderful tale of Anna Leonowens, who travels to Siam with her son to become governess to the King's children, is teeming with Rodgers and Hammerstein classics, including Getting to Know You, We Kiss in a Shadow and Shall We Dance?
For tickets, contact 07842 214631 or 0121 308 2431 or visit www.tmcs.yolasite.com for more information regarding the company.
