A programme of workshops, exhibitions and events have been unveiled this summer at West Bromwich arts centre The Public.

Between July 23 and September 4 the new Street venue will hold a free Art of Story exhibition, which has been inspired by stories and storytelling. There will also be drop in art sessions, T-shirt designing, DJ workshops and a photography and image editing taster course.

Every Monday from July 25 two holiday art sessions a day will be held at 10.30am and 1pm. Priced £3, visitors can enjoy activities such as puppet designing and graffiti art drawing.

On Wednesdays from July 27 a drop-in workshop aimed at children up to the age of four will be held. The Little People's Art Zone sessions run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm.

Visitors to the gallery can also build their own drawing robot with batteries and a simple motor during sessions on July 28 and 29 and August 10 and 11. Sessions are suitable for the over sevens and are £3.

Budding teenage DJs can take part in workshops on August 18 and 19, while there is an opportunity to make a pinhole camera on July 27 and August 3, while on July 28 and August 4 a making motion pictures workshop will be held.
