Life has been a bit hard of late for comic Jason Manford. The stand-up has experienced just what it's like to be on the wrong end of a few too many jokes after it was revealed last year that the married father-of-three had been sending lewd messages to female fans.

His career took a further nose dive when he later quit his job on TVs The One Show, which he had only been co-presenting for five months.

The 30-year-old has taken some time out of the spotlight and is now ready to return to the stage for his one man show – Off On Tour We Go.

He is performing at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall tonight and tomorrow.

And rather than shy away from jokes about his fall from grace, fans can expect to hear a few when he takes to the city's stage.

"For the first couple of months they were getting big laughs and big reactions," he says.

"And now they're still in there and if anything it takes a minute for people to get them.

"I think generally most people have got their own problems so they're not too bothered, and also as far as 'scandal' goes it's a pretty lame duck."

He adds: "Funnily enough, at the time one of the lawyers talked about injunctions and I asked my wife, what do you think? She said 'I'd rather spend the money on an extension for the kitchen', and that's what we did.

"Now we've got a massive kitchen!"

Manford was originally due to perform in Wolverhampton in December but it had to be rescheduled because of his TV commitments.

Manford was born in Salford, Greater Manchester.

His first big break was presenting his own breakfast show on Xfm Manchester. In June 2007, he took over from Dave Spikey as a team captain on TV panel show 8 out of 10 Cats.

In March 2010, Manford was announced as host of a new comedy show called Comedy Rocks, featuring stand up comedians, as well as musical performances.

A pilot was shown on ITV1 in March 2010, and a six-part series began on ITV1 in January.

Meanwhile he started presenting The One Show in July 2010, replacing ITV bound Adrian Chiles.

After a successful first UK tour and high sales of the following DVD, filmed live at the Manchester Apollo, he started his Turning Into My Dad tour in July 2010.

Manford is also involved in charity work and raising money for different causes. He has worked on behalf of Amnesty International, Manchester Children's Hospital, Comic Relief, Children in Need, Victim Support, Prince's Trust and Migraine Action.

Manford cites Billy Connolly as his comedy hero. Tickets are £20. Doors open at 6.45pm. For more details go to www.wolvescivic.co.uk or call 0870 3207000.
