Crude, rude and hilariously funny summed up zany comic Freddie Starr as he won over a Wolverhampton audience – despite disappearing after just 20 minutes in the first half.

Then again he's now 68 and suffered a heart attack last year, resulting in him undergoing a triple bypass, so perhaps it's understandable that his energy levels are not the same.

A short film mocking Hitler as a show opener did just the job in warming the crowd up on Saturday, with fans splitting their sides laughing, especially at a trouser-dropping scene.

But fans on Saturday night were dismayed when Starr then went off stage after just 20 minutes to be replaced by a fellow Liverpudlian comedian and a female singer. They stayed on stage for around 40 minutes up to the interval.

Thankfully they didn't return in the second half and Freddie returned with a bang, making up for the earlier disappointment as he reeled off the one-liners.

He most definitely proved he has not lost his touch and his insane humour was on top form.

A definite must-see but Starr should think about ditching the support acts as they were most certainly were not needed.
