Michael having a Ball at Symphony Hall
Despite making a career out of largely singing other people's songs, Michael Ball has done rather well for himself. The Midlands-born singer – hailing from Bromsgrove – has done this by branching out and becoming something of a TV personality and radio presenter as well.

In fact, trivia fans, Ball made an appearance on Coronation Street as short-lived character Malcolm Nuttall in 1985, and in 1995 had his own three-part series recorded by BBC Wales called Ball in the Hall (yes, really).
Ball also has the honour of being one of the UK's most successful Eurovision acts – especially by modern standards – coming in second place in 1992 with One Step Out of Time.
Since then, he has recorded an impressive 20 albums and starred in musicals including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Les Misérables.
