A rapturous sell-out audience greeted birthday boy James Blunt as he took the stage at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall on the latest leg of his new world tour.

Favourites such as Goodbye My Lover and Three Wise Men, as well as tracks from his new album Some Kind of Trouble, proved equally popular.

The 37-year-old ex-Army officer, who appeared on stage with military precision at 9pm sharp, was clearly delighted with his reception as the crowd sang along at every opportunity.

By the end, large swathes of the crowd had abandoned their seats to sing and dance along with hits like 1973 and Blunt's biggest chart-topper You're Beautiful.
