Controversial comic Jim Davidson has told how he was looking forward to returning to Wolverhampton in the spring – in his very own play.

The veteran stand-up is appearing at the Grand Theatre in April in his own play, Stand Up And Be Counted.

The 57-year-old said that he could not wait for curtain-up but admitted he would not be making any jokes about fourth wife Tracy Hilton – who comes from the city.

He said:"I love Wolverhampton. And I think the Black Country people will love the play.

"There won't be any jokes in it about Tracy though as it's not a stand-up show. I usually do include material about my ex-wives."

In the play written and directed by Jim, he plays the part of Eddie Pierce, an ageing comedian. Fellow comedian Matt Blaize plays Earl T Richards in the play.

Jim, who now lives in Dubai, and Matt are in the show at the Grand Theatre from April 4 until April 9.
