McFly gearing up for Birmingham tour date

Ask McFly about Birmingham and the lads mutter a few complimentary words about the hotels and the city's football teams.

But mention Wolverhampton and their eyes light up as they think back to the time when four nervous boys took to the stage at the Civic Hall for their first gig.

They are so fond of the venue that four years ago they used it to film their Greatest Hits Arena Tour DVD.

Danny Jones, Doug Poynter, Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher were at the NIA in Birmingham yesterday to promote their tour, which comes to Birmingham LG Arena on March 30.

But Doug said: "To us Wolverhampton is a special place as it was the first time we led a show.

"We filmed our DVD at the Civic Hall because of the importance of the venue to us, as we have had some of our best shows there."
