More than 60,000 fans have now signed up to an internet campaign in support of eccentric X Factor contender Wagner Carrilho as he seeks to keep his place in the TV contest tonight.

The official web page for the former PE teacher from Pensnett on the social network website Facebook now has some 60,397 members, including supporters from across the world.

Another page on the site called Wagner To Win has now signed up almost 45,000 supporters of the Brazilian-born singer.

Meanwhile, 20,000 have joined a group called Rage Against The X Factor, Vote For Wagner, Keep Him In.

The 54-year-old is thought to have been attracting huge numbers of votes in the show as part of a campaign to undermine X Factor boss Simon Cowell and bookies have slashed the odds on him winning to 10-1.
