Swirling around the stage like some kind of gothic princess, Florence Welch cast a spell over the crowd at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall last night.

The flame-haired singer's hauntingly beautiful voice was as good live as it was on her debut album Lungs, which catapulted her into the spotlight.

Dressed in a black mini-dress covered in a black net, the eccentric singer seemed to live out every song with her entire being.

Her shoes were discarded early on as Welch swirled and floated around in a Kate Bush-style, looking utterly at home on the stage.

The show opened with the haunting Howl, before moving onto album tracks such as My Boy Builds Coffins, Drumming Song and Between Two Lungs.

But the bigger crowd pleasers were reserved for the latter part of the night.

Her dancey cover of Candi Staton's You've Got the Love went down well, as did the lively Kiss with a Fist.

Welch ordered the packed out Civic Hall to jump along to Dog Days are Over.

Despite an exclusive play of a new song, Strangeness and Charm, Welch may soon find she needs some new hits to match those that won her critical acclaim.
