Talent will always count

Regarding the battle at the top of the album charts between The Beatles, U2, Oasis and Westlife. In my opinion, it will be a sad day for music in this country if Westlife beat real music to the top of the album chart. They died a death years ago. How they keep going to Number One is beyond me. They have been churning out the same drivel for years, simply because anything else is beyond them. They stick to the same boring sound that fits them because they have very average voices. I hope they never go solo - it will get worse. They have done well with very limited talent.

Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne have done nothing for music in this country, and they are raking in a fortune.

The X Factor is the best comedy show on TV, and Louis Walsh has the nerve to tell contestants to try something different. When did Westlife sound any different? The only thing Sharon Osbourne has done on TV is to educate the kids of today in foul language.

I'm so glad that in these last few years there have been real bands who play real music on the scene.

Westlife will never do any good in America - they know real talent when they hear it. How many Number Ones have Westlife had in America? The Beatles had 20.

Bands like U2, The Beatles and Oasis have more talent in their little fingers.

But I feel it's a sign of the times when artists with less talent do better than artists with much more talent.

Melvyn Harper, Ettingshall Road, Coseley.
