Balti Bazaar, Walsall
With more than a hundred main course dishes and 30 starters, Balti Bazaar leaves you feeling spoilt for choice when browsing through its diverse menu. From house specialities to combinations dishes, and tandoori meals to bhoona treats, the restaurant prides itself on offering its customers an extensive range of balti options coupled with fast, efficient service and excellent food.
And after sampling a succulent starter and delicious main dish I feel more than qualified to endorse this culinary promise.
On entrance to the Balti restaurant, which can serve up to 60 people, you are struck by the genial warm atmosphere and comfortable interior.
Just seconds after being seated, my friend and I were greeted by a friendly waiter who served us with appetising popadoms accompanied by mint sauce and mango chutney which wh et are appetites.
While we deliberated over the multi-ranged menu we were brought our choice of chilled soft drinks.
Customers can provide their own alcoholic beverages if they wish for something a little stronger to accompany their meals.
After much pondering, I opted for the garlic fried prawn (£2.50) for starter while my friend settled had the tandoori mixed kebab (£2.95). Feeling adventurous I decided to abandon my trusted favourite - chicken tikka massala - and ventured into the unknown choosing one of chefs signature dishes as my main course.
The king prawn bhoona and chicken dansaak combination dish (£6.95) came recommended by owner Mohammed Rakib and after tasting the double delight it was confirmed that my gamble had paid off. The collection of widely-contrasting flavours complemented each other with the prawns being especially tasty.
My companion's choice of the king prawn korai (£5.95) was equally appealing and came served with egg naan and egg fried rice.
Both dishes were exquisitely cooked and pleasing not only to the eye but also to the stomach.
Such was the ample size of the dishes there was no danger of leaving the table at Balti Bazaar feeling unsatisfied.
At such competitive prices and with excellent service, I shall definitely return to the venue in the future and wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of balti cuisine.
The eaterie also offers free door-to-door delivery within a four mile radius with a discount 10 per cent for collection.
It's open seven days a week including bank holidays from 5.30pm to 12pm on Sunday to Thursdays, and 5.30pm to 12.30am on Friday and Saturdays.
