Tory leaflet from Cornwall delivered to Walsall

Leaflets for a Tory candidate in Truro have been delivered by mistake to homes in the Black Country.

Walsall North candidate Douglas Hansen Luke had to stop a delivery firm completing the drop after being alerted to the mix up.

A box of leaflets for Sarah Newton, a Tory candidate standing in Truro and Falmouth, were delivered to homes in Kingfisher Grove and Nightingale Crescent, Willenhall.

Mr Hansen Luke is trying to overturn the 990-vote majority of long serving Labour candidate David Winnick.

The Conservative said: "There was one box of leaflets out of about 30,000 we were delivering.

"It had the leaflets for our candidate in Truro.

"Fortunately a supporter, who got one of these through the door, alerted me and we were able to get the rest of the delivery of that box stopped."

It is the second leaflet mix-up to hit the Conservatives in the Black Country.

In Dudley a leaflet turned up from a candidate standing in North Devon.

The Conservatives were left puzzled as Dudley North candidate Les Jones said the party had used its own volunteers to deliver leaflets.
