From bomb threats to a notorious Wolverhampton crook being sent back behind bars - January's most read stories
Hoax bomb threats to schools have dominated the news throughout January.
Here we take a look at our five biggest stories from the last month.
1. January's most read story was about the body of a woman being found in Wolverhampton's Queen Street.
The woman was believed to have been sleeping rough and her death is not being treated as suspicious. An inquest will take place in due course.
2. The evacuation of fourteen West Midlands schools on the third consecutive day of bomb scares was our second most read story of January.
There have now been more than 20 schools targeted on five separate occasions, and two teenagers were arrested in connection with the hoax calls. However, West Midlands Police continue to search for the culprits behind the majority of the calls.
3. The first spate of hoax bomb calls took place on Tuesday, January 19, when three Sandwell schools and one in Halesowen were targeted.
Hundreds of pupils were evacuated from the schools and pupils sent home as the threats caused major disruptions.
4. Away from hoax bomb threats our fourth most read story of the last month was about a teenager who was stabbed in Wolverhampton city centre and sought refuge in The Little Dessert Shop.
The motive behind the stabbing of the 19-year-old is unknown and West Midlands Police continue to investigate the case.
5. Our fifth most read story of January was about notorious Wolverhampton crook Carl Johnson being sent back to jail after failing to pay back thousands of pounds of criminal cash.
Johnson was jailed for two years and nine months in July 2012 for money laundering cash from a £34 million tax fraud. The mastermind of the scam paid the pair around £2.4m for their help, it was said.
He only paid back £30,029 of the £71,550 he owed, resulting in a further 452-day stint behind bars.
