Thumbs up for Stephen Sutton on first anniversary of Burntwood teenager's death
A memorial service and online campaign are among the ways the first anniversary of Stephen Sutton's death has been marked today.
The Teenage Cancer Trust staged an online 'Thumbs up' selfie while a service took place at Lichfield Cathedral.
The inspirational teenager lost his four year battle with bowel cancer on May 14 last year.
Supporters are being asked to post their 'Thumbs Up' selfies using #thumbsupforStephen and donate £5 to the charity.
Stephen, from Burntwood in Staffordshire, was just 19 when he died and had hoped to raise £10,000 for the trust when he created a 46 item bucket list.
Lichfield Cathedral held a 'thumbs up' commemorative service this morning.
Our reporter Deborah Hardiman has been tweeting from outside the cathedral where crowds of people have gathered to pay tribute.
However he helped to raise £3million before he died.
The sum increased to a final total of £5m as donations hit £1,000 a minute after the news of his death broke.
Celebrities have this week taken to social media to show their support. See below for all the latest tweets coming in from supporters.
The Very Revd Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, said: "Stephen Sutton was a remarkable young man. He captured our imagination by the way he chose to extract something good, joyful and positive from every minute of his life even as it was threatened by terminal illness. He has given so much to so many people. His example is tremendous. It was an absolute honour for us to have hosted his Funeral Vigil last year and we want to be able to remember him this year with another commemorative 'Thumbs up'."
