Blind Dave prepares for charity challenge
Fundraiser Blind Dave Heeley was making his final preparations ahead of the start of a three stage charity challenge.
The popular charity champion and keen Baggies fan is leading the Albion Foundation's tri-challenge kicking off with a gruelling 153-mile bike ride.
The 57-year-old, from Oak Road, West Bromwich, was journeying down to Southampton to rendezvous with famous faces and fundraisers for the challenge.
He will be joined by West Brom legend Brendon Batson, blind Paralympian Darren Harris and Paul Hunt, from the Albion Foundation as part of the 16-strong group.
They will ride out tomorrow morning riding up to 60 miles a day with the aim of reaching The Hawthorns to be presented to fans at half time of the Premier League clash between the baggies and Southampton.
Dave said: "The preparations have been going so well and I can't believe we have actually arrived at the day before the ride starts as it has been a long time in the planning.
"The fans have been fantastic so far and we are looking forward to reaching The Hawthorns on Saturday."
They cycling party will conduct a lap of honour at half-time before the focus switches to the two remaining challenges.
Members of the club's blind will walk between Sandwell's 119 schools over five days before Blind Dave completes the tri-challenge with the Marathon Des Sables, a156 mile-run over six days across the Sahara Desert in 50 degree heat.
