And this summer, a team of young footballers will get the opportunity of a lifetime when they play a match at FC Barcelona's Nou Camp.

Colron Boys FC, who are based in Streetly, Walsall, will fly out to Spain in June to compete in a tournament at the world famous stadium.

The side plays in the Central Warwickshire under 11s Premier League and has been invited to be part of the 50-team competition after winning both the division and a tournament at Villa Park.

Manager, Ben Roberts, surprised his players that they would be walking in the footsteps of Johan Cruyff, Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho by giving each of them a clue.

The 32-year-old said: "When the kids worked out where they were going they went absolutely ecstatic, they couldn't believe it.

"I've been coaching them since they were five-and-a-half years old and they've had their ups and down but it's great to see their hard work rewarded. We just can't wait now.

"This is an opportunity that most professional footballers would dream of doing, let alone a team of young lads."

The group of 11 will play a minimum of five group stage games in Barcelona on June 27, with two of the games kicking off in the stadium and the rest on pitches just outside.

Beforehand, a warm-up match against Spanish opposition has been organised the day after they arrive while the boss plans to show them the sights of the city during their stay too.

Mr Roberts, whose son is player for his team, added: "I hope this opportunity will also provide them with some important life skills, and that if they work hard enough for something it will pay off.

"And not only will the trip see them grow and develop as footballers but as young lads as well."

The tournament will be the first ever grass roots competition of its kind at the Nou Camp.
