Two Black Country gardens to feature on new TV series with Alan Titchmarsh
Two picturesque gardens in the Black Country are to feature on a new TV series after being selected from more than 600 across the country.
The green scenes of the back gardens in Walsall have been chosen to feature on Alan Titchmarsh's new show.
The award-winning Four Seasons in Buchanan Road and Hidden Gem garden in St John's Road, Pleck, made it to the final shortlist.
There were more than 600 applicants from which the 30 favourites were picked by the TV gardener to appear in Mr Titchmarsh's series Britain's Best Back Gardens.
They are due to feature on episode one which looks at challenging plots - gardens that have been created despite restrictions in size, location or circumstances.
Tony Newton, of the Four Seasons garden, said: "It is remarkable that out of 600 gardens, two Walsall gardens were selected in the final 30.
"Marie and I are honoured that our garden has been chosen for such a prestigious programme. We designed our garden to be beautiful in all four seasons and we think that this particularly impressed Alan."
Filming at the Four Seasons garden took place in July, when there was a flash thunderstorm which caused flooding in parts of the borough.
Marie added: "Alan wrote in our visitor's book: 'Thank you for a memorable visit to a very special garden, seen at its best in thunder and lightning! Loved it!'"
To celebrate his 50 years as a gardener, the MBE holder who is a gardener, broadcaster and novelist appealed to the nation to nominate their gardens.
It took him from the northern most point of the UK to the heart of Britain's biggest cities, discovering people from all walks of life doing things with their outdoor spaces.
