New dates for Stourbridge folk festival

The dates for the re-arranged Stourbridge Folk Festival have been announced.

The festival, which was originally to have been held from September 5 to 7 this year, will now run from May 19 to 24 at Katie Fitzgeralds in Enville Street, Wollaston.

The opening night will see a performance from Fairport Convention founder Ashley Hutchings.

Star names including Scott Matthews, Lucy Ward and comedian Patrick Monahan were to have performed at the arts and music festival that was originally to have been held at Wordsley's Red House Glass Cone.

There will be a maximum of 100 seats available for each concert with some held in the pub's cellar bar and others in a marquee.

Ashley Hutchings, aged 69, who was also a member of Steeleye Span and The Albion Band, will perform his show From Psychedelia to Sonnets - A Life In Words and Music.

May 20 will see a performance by Stourbridge group Ranagri and May 21's act is Derby singer-songwriter Lucy Ward

May 22 will see The New Bushbury Mountain Daredevils, including Katie Fitzgeralds licensee Eddy Mortgon, re-uniting for their first show in eight years.

Mr 23 will be a Stourbridge Foundation For Music Charity fundraiser with performers to be confirmed.

United States singer-songwriter Chris Smither, whose songs have been recorded by Bonnie Raitt and Emmy Lou Harris, will play the final concert.
