School pupils have got talent
Susan Boyle, Diversity and Paul Potts all shot to stardom after appearing on the Britain's Got Talent stage. Now pupils at a performing arts school are hoping to follow in their footsteps.
As implausible as it may seem, one student at the Coppice Performing Arts School in Wednesfield may have started their journey towards performing in front of the Queen. For 15 talented youngsters, the next eight weeks will feel like an age.
After performing for talent spotters at the school, Britain's Got Talents bosses will now decide if they are to be given the chance to perform in front of Simon Cowell.
This year, rather than just holding auditions in major cities, the show is touring the country to scour for hidden talent for the first time, making its only stop in Wolverhampton at the Coppice Performing Arts School. Head of performing arts Stephen Clifton said: "The first thing they said was 'will we get to meet Ant and Dec?' They didn't think it was true at first."
Jake Court, a casting researcher for the show, said: "The idea is to go into communities, performing arts schools, special clubs, gay bars to see as many people as possible and encourage people to take part who might be put off by having to travel."
