Super stylists from Royston Blythe named West Midlands Hairdressers of the Year
Two super stylists from Royston Blythe have been named West Midlands Hairdressers of the Year.
Co-owner Nick Malenko and artistic director Sophie Beattie were honoured at the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards.
The most influential stylists in the country gathered at London's swanky Grosvenor Hotel for the ceremony hosted by James Corden.
Mr Malenko, whose husband the salons in Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury are named after, said: "It's always great to win. This is an industry event and it's always very important to be recognised by other people in the industry.
"It was a great night. There are thousands of the best hairdressers in the country all gathered here, so it's a good chance to catch up with everyone. This time of year, we're all in the Christmas spirit as well, which is really nice."
Despite a string of awards and clientèle including the likes of Antonio Banderes and Katy Perry, Mr Malenko isn't entirely sure what sets them apart from the competition.
"You do what you do, although education and working with new staff to bring out their best has always been important to us," he said.
"We work all over the world and take inspiration from where we've been. We've also got a great young team that constantly have new and exciting ideas."
Their public life going from strength to strength, Nick and Royston are also looking to move from their £1.6 million mansion, Wightwick House, just outside Wolverhampton.
Mr Blyth said: "We've had a few viewers so far. Nothing positive, but with a house this size, you'd expect it to take some time."
