Wolverhampton brothers pass GCSE exams - before leaving junior school
Two bright young brothers have passed their GCSE maths exams - before they have even left junior school.
Krishan and Ajay Chada, aged 10 and nine respectively, sat their maths GCSE foundation exams this summer and both scored an impressive grade C.
The boys, who go to Woodfield Junior School in Penn, took their exams at Highfields Secondary School as external students.
Mother Neelan Chada, a qualified teacher, said: "I think me and my husband are more excited than the boys.
"They just take it all in their stride really, it's quite funny to see. They are almost unaware of what a great achievement it is to pass these exams at such a young age."
The boys took extra classes to help develop their love of maths in preparation for the exam.
Krishan said: "I have liked maths since I was in Year 2 and it is my favourite subject."
Ajay added: "I love everything about maths, the whole thing is so much fun."
While the boys have been encouraged to push themselves to pass the exam, it is not a case of all work and no play,
"They play football together for their local team, Punjabi United Wolverhampton, so it's not all work," said dad, Nirmal Chada, a business analyst. "Once we recognised they had some ability in maths we supported them at home. We gave them an extra push when they came home from school still hungry to learn more.
"But the football gives them a chance to clear their head and just enjoy life.
"We have always insisted that they have a good balance in life, we just knew they were capable."
The pair have tackled the challenge by working hard as a partnership.
Mr Chada said: "Because they are brothers they are very competitive but they also help each other out and support each other.
"There were times when one would be doing better than the other so they would work extra to catch up.
"It's particularly impressive that Ajay has managed to keep up with his big brother and match him."
