Eight-year-old Megan Aubrey needs a wheelchair to get around.

A friend of the family, Tina Powell, completed a sponsored walk to raise enough money to buy the wheelchair.

Megan's mother Lorraine said: "We are so pleased with the new wheelchair.

"My cousin Sarah Davies knows Tina and that's when I heard she was doing a sponsored walk from Wolverhampton to Birmingham.

"She raised £1,000 and spent it on buying the wheelchair and donated it to Megan."

Mrs Aubrey, who lives in Cannock, said the wheelchair was making life a lot easier for her daughter.

Megan can walk with the help of sticks but after a while her legs get tired and she needs to use a wheelchair.

Mrs Aubrey added: "Megan likes her independence so this is great for her.

"She can get around in it and fall asleep in it."

Earlier this year Megan was given a trike by Caudwell Children, a Staffordshire-based charity that donates equipment to disabled youngsters.
