The 54-year-old has cut the face of six England players into melons which he now plans to hang up at his new restaurant called Singapore Kitchen in Vicarage Road in West Bromwich.

Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Joe Hart, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert are the players he has carved out on the fruits.

He now plans to make more over the coming days.

He said: "I've done this because every four years I support England at the World Cup - I was only small when we last won it, and now I hope it's time we win it back.

"I hope the melons drum up support for the team around the area. It's already getting a good reaction from anyone who sees them."

Mr Loh, who starred on Britain's Got Talent three years ago, has also introduced a hot and spicy fried rice inspired by Wayne Rooney for the duration of the World Cup.

He said: "I made the dish about Wayne Rooney because he is my favourite player. It's very hot and spicy, something which would get the team playing very well."

Mr Loh, who used to run The Indian Dragon in Hednesford, goes by the alias of "The Melon Man".

He has already carved out many other famous names on melons including Prince Charles, John Lennon and Bruce Lee.

Mr Loh has teamed up with Adele Downer, of Adele's Cake Heaven, who has also created a World Cup-themed food item - a 14 inch square lemon drizzle sponge cake.

The 62-year-old is to sell the cake off at auction to raise money for the Birmingham Children's Hospital. She then plans to make a line of World Cup-themed cup cakes.
