New bar striking a chord with crowd
An alternative new nightspot in the Black Country began with a blast – and revellers gave it their full approval.
Just weeks after iconic club night Blast Off closed its doors for good, The Dog and Doublet had its grand unveiling a few doors down on North Street.
Former Blast Off DJs have been hired to provide indie and soul sounds for the distinctive Wolverhampton venue, which attracted hundreds of people during its opening night at the weekend.
But with jazz, blues and acoustic nights, an outdoor cocktail bar, a pub-style lounge area and a dancefloor fireplace on the Dog and Doublet menu, it's clear this is no Blast Off MK2.
That was something manager Jack Webb was keen to stress as he opened the doors to his new punters for the first time.
