Gabriel, nine, raising cash for Guide Dogs
An entrepreneurial young boy has collected a host of signed celebrity memorabilia to raise cash for a good cause.
Nine-year-old Gabriel Dhillon-Powell has managed to gather signed photographs and books from the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, The Saturdays, Wayne Rooney and David Walliams to raffle off to his classmates and their families.
The year four pupil at Langley Primary School has been working hard on the initiative to raise money for the Guide Dogs charity.
Gabriel's class teacher Vicky Raid said: "There's so much commitment and dedication from him, every morning he tells me he's got something new.
"I'm working closely with him and his dad Paul too, so we've got a really good team effort going at the moment.
"Last year Gabriel did a similar thing for the Midlands Air Ambulance, and he's always looking to do something to contribute to the school."
Gabriel managed to collect the raffle prizes thanks to kind donations from Chris Harker, a signed celebrity books seller.
Last week a volunteer for the charity visited the school to talk to the pupils about how much a guide dog had changed their life.
Ms Rai added: "The children are all getting involved and making contributions around the school.
"It gives them an opportunity to contribute and raises awareness of things happening around the UK, as well as have a greater understanding of charity and where the money goes.
"There's a great community spirit that's come out of this, we always take this kind of opportunity around the school where we can help others."
The raffle draw is taking place at the school, in Oldbury, on Friday, May 16.
