More than 500 people will join in the final leg of the Dudley Borough Trail on Sunday, with walkers being given a choice of trails ranging from six to 26 miles.

The walk is the last in a month-long series of trails which have toured the area's iconic landmarks and picturesque scenery.

Canal towpaths, disused railway lines, country paths and a few roads are among the trails the walkers will take.

Routes for six, nine, 12, 18 and 26 miles are on offer.

They are suitable for all ages and have been organised to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors.

John Millar, director of urban environment, said: "The Borough Trail is one of our most popular events because it gives people the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and some of the sights of the Dudley borough.

"We're keeping our fingers crossed for some great weather and look forward to seeing people enjoying themselves on the day."

Checkpoints are strategically placed along each of the routes to ensure the well-being and whereabouts of walkers and light refreshments are available.

A certificate is given to everyone who completes the trail.

The event, which this year started on April 19, attracts thousands of people and is now in its 34th year.

It starts on Sunday at Dudley Leisure Centre at designated times between 8am and noon.

It will cost £3 per person to join the 26 and 18 mile routes, £2.50 for 12 and nine miles and £1.50 to walk the six mile route.

An additional 50p will be charged for entries on the day.

Entry forms are available from Dudley Council leisure centres and libraries or by calling 01384 817817. Forms can also be downloaded from dudley.gov.uk/himleyhall.
