Young golfer stuns with hole in one

Aspiring young golfer Clark Icke stunned regulars at his local course – by getting a hole in one at the tender age of 11.

Clark was practising at Ledene Golf Centre in Codsall Wood when he achieved the feat.

Proud father Wayne, a 50-year-old fire officer, said there was a small crowd of fellow golfers behind Clark when he made his remarkable strike.

"They just stared in amazement, and told him to run to the office to make a note of the date and time." Clark, who lives in Guthrum Close, Perton, has also been selected for the England Development Squad, which sees him receive regular coaching from golf pro Jon Watts at Drayton Park Golf Club near Tamworth. "I was quite surprised when it went in," he said, modestly.

His mother Sandra, 53, said Clark, who goes to Moffats school in Kinlet, near Bewdley, was a real perfectionist.
