Butchers brings in meaty job creation to former Woolworths
A new butchers will open in the old Woolworths shop in Wednesfield, creating 20 new jobs.
Meat & More is opening in High Street on October 1 after carrying out a £150,000 refurbishment of the site.
The shop currently houses a frozen foods supermarket, which will close later this month.
Wednesfield South councillor Greg Brackenridge welcomed the news.
He said: "I am over the moon. It is absolutely essential that we don't have many shops that are empty.
"We are seeing signs of improvement after the recent economic crisis and more people are coming into Wednesfield.
"I'm extremely pleased that the butchers is opening, I was very sad to lose two, but now we have one back."
In 2009 after Woolworths closed, the shop reopened as discount grocery and frozen foods shop Bargain Foods, creating 12 jobs.
