A casino in the Black Country undergoing a £1.5 million transformation is holding open interviews next week as part of its recruitment drive for new staff.

Walsall's Grosvenor Casino is being re-launched as G Casino next year and is taking on new workers, including poker dealers, croupiers and waiting staff.

Following the interviews on Monday from 7pm, the casino will then host a dealer training school.

Staff at the site in Bentley Mill Way said they were getting a lot of interest about the new positions. The overhaul of the casino includes a new restaurant, gaming equipment and poker areas.

It is also believed the project will include a new live entertainment area and lounge for screening sporting events on huge plasma screen TVs.

The expansion is part of owner Rank Group's £50 million nationwide scheme to open new casinos and enlarge existing branches.

Rank Group spokeswoman Estelle Boon said today the final number of jobs needed for the Walsall branch was still being calculated. She said. "We will have more details over the next couple of weeks."

The Walsall project is similar to a £1.2m refurbishment at Birmingham's Grosvenor Casino in Broad Street that created 20 new jobs.

People attending the Walsall interviews need to be aged 18 or over and have proof of ID. Call 01922 645 222.

Rank is also planning to open a new multi-million-pound casino in Oldbury, creating 120 new jobs, 80 of which will be full time.

It will be built off the Birchley Island along with a new hotel and office development that will create 180 jobs.

Rank Group said its brand of G Casinos was to give people an alternative night out and shake off some of the stereotypes associated with casinos.
