Wolverhampton Goodyear closure: Further meetings scheduled this week

More meetings are to take place this week over the future of the Goodyear plant in Wolverhampton.

Despite the formal consultation process ending on Wednesday last week, the Unite Union and Goodyear bosses are scheduled to meet twice this week to continue talks over the Bushbury Lane site.

Unite revealed last week they are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of 'meaningful talks' between the two sides and are hoping for progression when the sides meet this week.

The re-tread division of the plant is expected to close in mid-2016 with the rubber compounds following in January 2017 – resulting in the loss of 330 jobs.

A petition to save the plant has reached 1,574 signatures.
