Takeover deal as law firm Talbots expands
One of the West Midlands fastest growing law firms is expanding into North Worcestershire after completing its first acquisition since 2011.
QualitySolicitors Talbots has taken over Lumsdons' Stourport office in a deal that will secure the jobs of all 10 staff and builds on its existing presence in Kidderminster.
The acquisition accelerates the company's desire to widen its geographic coverage to new areas outside of its Black Country roots.
It will also strengthen its ability to offer residential, property and family law and, for the first time, gives it access to a dedicated personal injury team.
"Like ourselves, Lumsdons has a fantastic reputation for delivering high quality legal advice that puts people first at all times," explained Martyn Morgan, director at QualitySolicitors Talbots.
"There are lots of natural synergies between the two businesses and the transition into one organisation will be seamless for both sets of clients with access to even greater legal support in personal injury claims, family law and, importantly, business services."
He continued: "The acquisition will see Lumsdons become part of QualitySolicitors Talbots and marks the first time two practices from the 'QS' brand have come together."
Quality Solicitors Talbots, which celebrates its 175th birthday in 2013, employs 170 people across its network of offices in Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton.
The acquisition comes just a few weeks after it invested £500,000 into the opening of its new Dudley office. It saw an 8% rise in annual turnover to £6.5m this year.
Lumsdon's Keith Yates has moved to QualitySolicitors Talbots as part of the deal. He said: "I'm delighted to be joining such a fast growing business and one that is investing in the quality of its staff and services.
"The Stourport office will help it secure a greater presence in North Worcestershire and gives it the chance to talk to new clients about the other legal services it provides.
"I'm especially excited about being able to tap into the business services team, which is one of the biggest in the region and able to provide assistance with start-ups and support with regulatory issues, commercial contract and merger and acquisition activity."
Craig Holt, founder of QualitySolicitors, added: "I'm delighted to see the continued growth and success of QualitySolicitors Talbots, who have gone from strength to strength since becoming part of our brand.
"It is natural that this next step in its development should come by joining forces with another QualitySolicitors firm – the shared values and focus on exceptional client service make this a very sensible move."
