Aldridge-based group Aquila is celebrating after six of its workshops were given a new independent award. Its factories in Walsall, Tamworth, Whitchurch, Telford, Worcester and Tipton have all obtained the irtec accreditation after recent inspections.

The independent tests are designed to assess workshops on professional skills, knowledge, industry and safety standards. The firm now believes that any company who works with it is certain to receive the highest standard of vehicle care.

Consultant John Parry, who worked with Aquila on the irtec scheme, agreed, saying that it proves the company's commitment and sets it apart from competitors.

"This irtec accreditation means the customer can be confident that all work conforms to the necessary standards and that the workshops have all the necessary equipment, skills and training in place. Achieving this standard really sets Aquila apart."

Gary Mullaney, chief executive and founder of the business, added: "This is excellent news for our own team as well as our customers. Excellent customer care is at the centre of everything we do and this latest award recognises the effort of our entire team."

Aquila is based in Aldridge, Walsall and supplies, maintains and repairs vehicles for more than 400 customers, for companies such as MAN Truck and Bus, Iveco, Caterpillar, Isuzu and Neoplan. The company employs more than 160 staff covering sales, service and parts and a range of other commercial vehicle services.
