Total Construction Supplies moving to new Wolverhampton site
A Willenhall company which specialises in reinforcement mesh for the construction industry will move into new premises at Wolverhampton at the end of the month as it gears up for further growth.
Total Construction Supplies is moving from three units at Ashmore Business Park, Monmer Close, to a new 26,000 sq ft unit at Pinnacle Point on Boundary Industrial Estate, Fordhouses.
Director Craig Gibbons, who started Total in 1998 with his business partner and co-director Matthew Hague, said the aim was for TCS to grow its annual turnover from £3.7 million to £5m within two years.
Also moving will be another Total Group company Total PPE, which is on the same site and provides personal protection and site equipment.
Manufacturing of Total's site-ready formwork product SwiftForm will also be switched from Telford to the new group home at the site off Stafford Road. Swiftform is used to make moulds into which concrete is poured.
"The new site is great for us because it is right next to Junction Two of the M54 and the i54 site," said Mr Gibbons.
He said the move was planned for the weekend of June 29 and 30 with operations starting on the new site on July 1. The existing three units, which total 15,000 sq ft will be put up for rent by the group.
Ahead of the move the landlords are constructing a double-storey office area within the main single storey unit.
Mr Gibbons said existing machinery was being transferred to Pinnacle Point but they were also investing £20,000 in new machines for the SwiftForm manufacturing and £50,000 in a new forklift truck.
"All our current 34 employees are moving to the new site and we will be recruiting straight away for two to three more," he added.
Total, which originally started out at the Wulfrun Trading Estate in Wolverhampton had moved to Willenhall about seven years ago.
"There has been steady growth since we were founded. We are now looking to continue that steady growth with the move. We needed the extra space to grow," said Mr Gibbons.
As well as the reinforcement mesh Total Construction Supplies provides a wide range of products for the construction industry including grouts, liquid and sheet waterproofing and joint sealants.
It also offers a service to make cut and bent reinforcements to customers' specuifications from their drawings.
"We aim to provide a tailor-made service for the construction industry," added Mr Gibbons.
He said that Total was hoping for a revival of the industry, which has been in a slump since the 2008 recession.
"Our whole business is within the UK with about 70 per cent of our customers in the West Midlands," he added.
