A new stainless steel business has been started by the Barrett Steel group in Tividale. Barrett Stainless began operation on July 2 at the group's Tubes UK division site at the Autobase Industrial park in Tipton Road.
Business development manager for Barrett Stainless, Paul Nixon, said the new business would create employment in the local area as it grew.
The new business is intended to extend the current range of stainless grades and offer expert advice to its customers.
It is offering a specialised range of ferritic and other grades of stainless steel to give fabricators the opportunity to tap into new markets, increase margins and gain an advantage over the competition with no increase in costs or loss of quality.
Mr Nixon said: "We identified that traditional stainless steel fabricators have had little scope in developing products for their customers, effectively denying these customers the opportunity to move forward in the marketplace.
"The introduction of Barrett Stainless's special combination of stainless grades solves this problem.
"We don't just offer good prices and delivery, either. We offer specialist advice on where our steels offer a cost, strength and corrosion advantage over conventional stainless steel grades. This advice includes welding through to design, and from weight saving to problem solving.
"Our small team covers the UK and Ireland and is adept at identifying opportunities for customers in a huge range of industries and markets, many not always obvious to the usual mass market stainless sales workforce."
Barrett Stainless is able to offer a wide range of square and rectangular sections as well as round tube. This can be supplied laser-cut to a required profile or supplied as kits ready for production. Flat sheet in hot and cold rolled material in thickness covering most applications is also readily available.
As part of the Barrett Group, Barrett Stainless can also offer sheet, plate, box section and tube from its dedicated West Midlands warehouse. The company is experienced in offering individual laser-cut box section kits for delivery into the UK and Ireland within a few days or on a just-in-time basis if required. The benefits to customers include increased productivity, improved quality, reduced manufacturing costs and lower stock levels.
Laser cutting, bending and tube profiling are also available at the site.
