?Kitchens maker Chamois Furnishings has folded with the loss of 57 jobs, it was revealed today.

The Wolverhampton-based company was already in the hands of administrators from Begbies Traynor.

But it was revealed today that the firm has collapsed after failing to find a buyer.

As a result, all the jobs at the business, in Showell Road, Bushbury, have been lost and its customer list sold to a rival.

The firm supplied local authorities and housing associations with its ecologically-friendly kitchens, which had the backing of environmentalist David Bellamy.

But the spending cuts in public sector housing meant work virtually dried up in recent months, with turnover dropping below £3 million.

Chamois' high profile founder and boss, Andrew Jones-Dutt, had been fending off rumours about the company for weeks before today's shock announcement.

In October he categorically denied that the company was in trouble, telling the Express & Star: "Chamois continues to trade on.

"We are not going into administration. I do not know where these rumours are coming from."

But the the very same day joint administrators Bob Young and Steve Currie, from the Stoke-on-Trent office of Begbies Traynor, were appointed.
