Home furnishings giant Dunelm Mill is aiming to open a store in Kidderminster creating 50 jobs in the town, bosses have revealed.

The firm said potential sites in and around the town centre have been identified.

But they remain tight-lipped about the exact location saying plans are still in the early stages.

Dunelm spokesman John Olsen said: "I can confirm Dunelm is presently looking to open a store in Kidderminster.

"There are sites in the town which are under consideration at the moment but cannot reveal more until the plans are further advanced.

"The scheme is still in its early stages at the moment and we simply cannot say more until things are a little further advanced."

Town centre manager Jackie Roberts said it would be a major development for the town centre.

She said: "Shops like Dunelm pull in visitors from all parts of the area and this will be of enormous benefit."

It follows the opening of a Hooty's store, in Worcester Street, last month. It has provided a lift after bosses were left disappointed last week when Plaza Malls announced they had abandoned plans for the town.
