Jobs joy as chain revamps

McDonald's is pumping £5.5 million into its West Midlands restaurants, creating more than 90 jobs, it was revealed today.

McDonald's is pumping £5.5 million into its West Midlands restaurants, creating more than 90 jobs, it was revealed today.

Outlets across Birmingham, the Black Country and Staffordshire are being transformed with new exterior and interior designs, free WiFi for customers and extended opening hours.

Staff will benefit too, with new "crew rooms."

Restaurants being remodelled this year include Rushall in Walsall; Birmingham New Road, Bilston; Castlegate Way, Dudley; Park Road, Halesowen; Stafford Road, Wolverhampton; Wall Island, Lichfield; Upper Gornal, Dudley; Weavers Wharf, Kidderminster; and Northfield, Bristol Road, Kitts Green, Stetchford and Yardley Wood, all Birmingham.

Richard Forte, chief operating officer at McDonald's, said: "We are pleased to provide job opportunities in the West Midlands, particularly when youth unemployment is at an all-time high."
