Ultra Furniture search for new recruits
A Black Country furniture manufacturer is stepping up recruitment and production this year after changing hands in the autumn.
Ultra Furniture on Pensnett Trading Estate, Kingswinford, was bought by NVM Private Equity;s Helium Miracle 124 holding company in October.
Managing director Glenn Aston said that the new owners were right behind Ultra, which had been through a pre-pack administration earlier in the year.
He said Ultra was now growing again and had taken on six new staff in recent weeks.
"We are still recruiting and are looking for around 15 more skilled sewing machinists and upholsterers," he added.
The number employed is back up to 120 at the business, which made 84 redundancies after losing a major customer in February last year.
The pre-pack administration deal allowed it to keep trading and saved the jobs of the remaining 116 staff.
The acquisition of Ultra was Helium Miracle 124's second furniture manufacturer acquisition following Buoyant Upholstery in 2013.
The aim was to allow Ultra to grow its home shopping and online markets, as well as key accounts.
The acquisition saw the appointment of Kirsty Thorburn as operations director to the Ultra board.
Ultra has secured a new 10-year lease at Kingswinford.
