Angel Waterlogic re-opens revamped HQ
An international water cooler business has been celebrating the re-opening of its Wolverhampton headquarters after a major revamp.
Angel Waterlogic – formerly known as Angel Springs – has been based in the city since 1996 and moved from Ettingshall to its headquarters in Shaw Road in 2012.
Now landlord Oakendale Investments, based in Bilston, has carried out a £500,000 renovation of the offices, where the workforce has doubled from 60 to 125.
Celebrating the re-opening of the refurbished offices with the company's managing director John Dundon and deputy managing director Greg Pritchett were the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Barry Findlay and Wolverhampton North East MP Emma Reynolds.
They were also joined by Wolverhampton South East MP Pat McFadden, who worked closely with the firm when it was in Ettingshall in particular on a work placement scheme for young local people that Angel says has changed its recruitment policy.
At the same time the company has been undergoing substantial growth, including the acquisition of its biggest competitor in January and the doubling of its business operations in the UK. It now employs more than 450 people across 16 UK sites and services more than 160,000 water coolers across the UK.
The company has now grown to become the largest water cooler service business in Europe with turnover of around £50 million.
The Mayor and both MPs hailed the company for its commitment to remaining based in Wolverhampton. Councillor Findlay said: "It is great for the city of Wolverhampton that we have companies like yours that are committed to the city."
Emma Reynolds said Angel's growth since it started in Wolverhampton was 'incredibly impressive', while Mr McFadden said the company's enthusiastic adoption of his work placement proposals had provided opportunities and jobs for local young people.
Mr Pritchett said: "We're delighted with the grand reopening event and our impressive new facility which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees. Our decision to stay within the city was made easily as Wolverhampton is a staple in our successful history. Being able to create employment opportunities and support growth within the local economy is an outstanding achievement which truly reflects our own growth as a business and reaffirms our position as the largest water cooler company within Europe."
