Steel work for PP Control & Automation's £1m extension is now in place at the Landywood Green site.

The project will add 1,000 sq metres of production space, including a new logistics department and clean assembly area.

The company needs the additional capacity to achieve its target of doubling sales turnover to £40 million by 2021.

New staff are also being recruited for the first phase of expansion.

PP Control & Automation, a member of the Manufacturing Assembly Network, is a suppliers of electrical control systems, cable harnesses and sub-contract manufacturing solutions.

The business currently employs nearly 200 people.

PP has won new contracts in food, packaging and scientific equipment this year which will help the Staffordshire manufacturer top £20m turnover this year.

It has seen a major surge of interest from machinery builders looking to outsource non-core competences in a bid to reduce lead times and optimise quality.

More than £2m of incremental orders were placed in the first six months of the year.
