And the company, which is eyeing furthing growth, has just won the title of Business of the Year at the inaugural Nachural Business Awards, held at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Friday.

Ninder Johal, chief executive of the event organisers Nachural, said: "They have grown from humble beginnings but with an emphasis on customer service they have secured major contracts with national retailers to be their delivery arms in delivering items to residents and businesses all over the UK.

"They are now looking to move into larger premises with a potential of employing hundreds more in the area."

Established in 2009, and originally based in an 18,000 sq ft facility in Walsall, BJS has enjoyed growth throughout the last seven years and in 2013 moved to larger, 125,000 sq ft premises in Wednesbury.

However, high volumes and increased demand from clients meant that by last year they required additional space and so the search for a new facility began.

Legal advice for the move was provided by Wolverhampton-based Charan Thiara of law firm FBC Manby Bowdler's commercial property team.

Initially open to either a brand new site to house the whole business or an additional facility nearby to its existing base, the BJS team opted for a second base.

Tony Pearson, sales director at BJS Distribution, explained: "Once it became clear that we were rapidly outgrowing our base in Wednesbury, we had a choice between finding a totally new home for the business or expanding in to a second site.

"However, having viewed several options we decided the one that best met our needs was a second facility nearby to our existing base in Wednesbury so we opted to take a unit on the Red Mill Estate."

The expansion comes after growth that has seen another 100 jobs created at BJS as its delivery fleet expanded from 20 vans to more than 60, as well as 7.5-tonne and 18-tonne lorries.

Mr Pearson added: "We have worked with Charan and the team at FBC Manby Bowdler since 2013 and feel reassured that they provide us with the support necessary to make our continued growth as smooth as possible. They have a good understanding of our needs and not only keep us fully informed every step of the way, but are also constantly mindful of the timeframes in which we need to operate."

Charan added: "The team at BJS has enjoyed a sustained growth trajectory and have their sights firmly set on further growth both here in the Midlands as well as in the South of the UK.

"It is a pleasure to work as part of their team as they seek to identify new premises for their expanding business and I look forward to seeing them continue to be successful."
